Canon 536: The pastor presides over the pastoral council, although the pastor needs not to serve as a chairperson. Through the pastoral council, the Christian faithful gives their help in fostering pastoral activity. The pastoral council is a consultative body and is governed by norms determined by the diocesan bishop.
